Bon Voyage No. 25 Potjie Pot — R4,999 — 75-100L Jumbo Cast Iron | Big5
Bon Voyage No. 25 Potjie Pot — R4,999 — Mega-Event Cast Iron (~75-100L)
What is a No. 25 Potjie?
The Bon Voyage No. 25 is the largest size in our cast iron 3-leg potjie range — and one of the largest cast iron pots commercially manufactured in South Africa. At 75–100 litres capacity it serves 80–140 adult portions in a single cooking session.
This is the pot that becomes a fixture at a community kitchen, a church district, or a kasi feeding programme. Cast iron at this scale lasts a generation if cared for properly.

Bon Voyage No. 25 vs LK's Best Duty Jumbo
The SA mega-potjie market is small — most retailers don't stock above ~50L because of inventory costs. LK Products (Best Duty + CHEF Supreme) is the dominant retail name; their jumbo cast iron typically retails between R7,000 and R9,500.
The Bon Voyage No. 25 ships factory-direct from Thaba Nchu at R4,999. Same cast iron material. Same 3-leg traditional design. Same use cases. The R2,000+ difference is the retail margin we remove by shipping directly from the manufacturer.
For a B2B buyer, a No. 25 at R4,999 amortizes to under R10 per serving across just 5 large events, beating any catering hire alternative.
Handling a 150 kg Full Pot
Place once, leave it. Set the pot on the coal bed empty, then fill and cook in place.
Empty in batches. Use 2-litre ladles to portion into smaller serving pots first.
Tripod + chain. Many community kitchens fit a permanent steel tripod with chain hoist.
Coal bed prep. Build a 1.5m x 1.5m wood fire 2 hours before cooking.
4-adult lift when empty & cool. Even empty, the pot is 50–60 kg.
Care & Seasoning at Scale
Initial clean. Wash with hot water (no soap), rinse, dry over a low fire.
Apply oil. Use 500ml vegetable oil + long-handled brush. Coat the entire interior.
Heat slowly. Build a moderate wood fire. Maintain 2 hours. Rotate quarter-turns every 30 minutes.
Cool in place. Allow natural cooling over dying coals.
Repeat once. Second seasoning gives a more durable finish.
Ongoing: rinse with hot water, no soap, no dishwasher, re-oil lightly after each clean.
Excellent quality and easy to install. The castors are incredibly big and strong, 2 have brakes. Perfectly to place my counter top braai on, and the gas cylinder underneath. As elegant as the picture.
