What is a Wash Basin used for?

The New World Enamel Wash Basin is used for washing dishes, soaking vegetables, mixing dough, bathing babies, holding ice during a braai, and as a general-purpose household container. The 30–50 cm sizes are common in kitchens; the 60–70 cm sizes are used for laundry, baby bathing, and large-batch food prep.

What is New World Enamel made of?

Vitreous (glass) enamel coated on a steel core. Double-coated for durability. The glass coating is non-reactive and easy to clean. The steel core gives the basin structural strength.

What sizes are available?

Seven sizes from 30 cm up to 70 cm in diameter, in three colours (White, Green, Cream). Larger sizes (60 cm and 70 cm) are popular for outdoor use, traditional baby bathing, and large-batch laundry.

Is the Wash Basin durable?

Yes. Enamel-on-steel basins are designed for daily heavy use. The glass coating resists rust, odours, and staining. Small chips can occur if dropped on a hard surface — these are cosmetic and do not affect function.

Why does my enamel basin have small black spots or imperfections?

New World Enamel products are individually handmade and kiln-fired. Small black spots, minor surface scratches, and slight pattern misalignment are normal characteristics of the handmade firing process and do not affect use, safety, or longevity.

Order accuracy

Please make sure your mobile number, email address, and delivery address are all correct at checkout. If delivery fails because of incorrect contact information provided by the customer, the customer is responsible for any extra costs incurred.

If an order is cancelled after a failed delivery caused by incorrect customer details, we deduct 7% from the total order amount as a processing fee, or the customer can choose a full-value voucher for future orders.

Returns & return shipping

Due to the cost of express delivery in South Africa, we do not provide free return shipping. If you decide to return goods, both the original send-out and the return shipping charges are deducted from the refund. For details see our return and refund policy.

For an order that originally qualified for free shipping but drops below the R 800 threshold after partial return, a flat R 99 will be applied as the original send-out cost.
