Are marble-coating pans the same as Teflon? No — marble-coating uses a granite/marble particle layer (PFOA-free) bonded to aluminium. Both are non-stick but the SA non-stick we stock is PFOA-free.
How long does a non-stick coating last? With wooden/silicone utensils and gentle cleaning: 3–5 years. Metal utensils or scouring pads can cut that to 12 months.
Why do my eggs stick to my stainless steel pan? Almost always under-preheat. Heat the dry pan until a water droplet beads and dances; then add oil; then the egg.
Can I sear a steak in non-stick? You can cook it; you can't sear it properly. The coating disrupts the protein-to-metal bond that produces a Maillard crust.
Is non-stick safe at high heat? Modern PFOA-free coatings are safe at ≤230°C. Avoid empty pre-heating; coating breakdown begins above ~260°C.
