Sapphire 10 Piece Aluminium Casseroles With Solid Handles — hero image

If you cook on a stove daily — large family cooking, daycare kitchens, small catering — the handles fail before the pots do. The Sapphire 10pc was built for buyers who lift heavy stews and pots of pap repeatedly, where bakelite handles eventually loosen and where regular metal handles get unwieldy. The handle is the difference, not the pot body.

What it's actually good at

The pot body is identical to our other 10pc sets (Queen, NW7) — same 99.9% pure aluminium, same 1.8–2.2 mm walls, same five casserole sizes. The difference is the U-shape riveted solid handle, which is the heaviest-duty option in the 10pc range. The U-shape gives a deeper grip than the side-mounted SS handles on the Queen 10pc, which matters when you're lifting a 5-litre pot of stew out of the oven or off a high stove.

Customer Pretty (verified Takealot buyer, on the closely-related NW7 10pc with bakelite handles):

"It doesn't burn my food, I love the product, I can recommend it to anyone."

The "doesn't burn food" comment applies to the entire Bon Voyage 10pc range — Sapphire shares the same 1.8–2.2 mm aluminium body that produces the even heat distribution buyers consistently call out.

What to watch for

Metal handles get hot. This is the disclosed behaviour of all metal-handled cookware, not a defect. Always use a cloth or mitt. The U-shape gives more room for a cloth than the SS side handles on the Queen 10pc, which is actually an advantage when handles are hot — you have a fuller grip area.

Heavier than NW7. The solid metal handle adds weight versus the bakelite NW7. If lifting weight is your concern (older user, smaller kitchen), the NW7 with bakelite handles at R539 is the lighter, cheaper option.

Empty heat. Never leave an empty aluminium pot on a hot stove. Aluminium heats fast and will warp.

Dark grey oxidation film develops on aluminium after months of use. Boil water with a sliced lemon for 10 minutes to remove. Do not use steel wool.

How it compares to the rest of the 10pc range

Above: Bon Voyage Queen 10pc with SS side handles — same pot body as Sapphire, different handle.

Model Handle Wall Price Best for
NW7 10pc Bakelite (black, heat-resistant plastic) 1.8–2.2 mm R539 Traditional kitchen, lowest cost
Queen 10pc Stainless steel side handles 1.8–2.2 mm R569 Modern look, dishwasher-safe handle, lighter
Sapphire 10pc U-shape riveted solid metal 1.8–2.2 mm R599 Heaviest-duty use, high-cycle lifting

All three have the same 99.9% pure aluminium pot body. Pick by handle preference, not pot quality.

How the Sapphire compares to Hart's aluminium range

Hart publishes "A-Grade aluminium" without a purity percentage on its brand site (harthomeware.co.za, captured 2026-05-15). Hart's J7 range uses 1.8 mm walls per retailer descriptions (Shoprite / Bradlows / Russells), versus Sapphire's 1.8–2.2 mm. Hart's brand-site product pages do not currently surface review counts.
