What it's actually good at
Daily cooking on gas or electric, with the convenience of stainless steel handles that stay cooler under normal stovetop use. The SS handles also outlast bakelite — bakelite eventually develops surface cracks under 5+ years of daily heat cycling; stainless steel does not.
Best 10pc for pap. The 99.9% pure aluminium body with 1.8–2.2 mm walls distributes heat evenly across the base, preventing the localised hot spots that scorch pap. Use medium-low heat, add maize meal with the South African "cutting" motion, cover, and simmer 20 minutes.
What to watch for
Empty heat. Never leave an empty pot on a hot stove. Aluminium heats fast and will warp.
Acidic foods. For long-simmering tomato or lemon-heavy dishes, the aluminium can react with the acid. Use our Diamond 28pc stainless steel set for long acidic cooking.
