Tiger Cookware: European Style, South African Price

Tiger is for the South African home cook who has decided: "I deserve a better set of pots."

Not better in the sense of more expensive. Better in the sense of designed — pots that look as good on the cooktop as the food on the plate. Marble-coated for effortless release. Three fashion-forward colours. PFOA-free. And priced 35-40% below the imported European brand they go head-to-head with.

The European Brand Gap

For years, the SA cook who wanted designer-grade non-stick had one option: imported European brands like Berlinger Haus. The 15-piece Berlinger set sells for around R2,872 in South African retail.

The same craftsmanship — marble-coated cast aluminium, PFOA-free — in Tiger NS15 at R1,999. Same level of design. ~37% less. No import duty. No European brand premium.

The Three Tiger Colours

Tiger NS15 ships in three colour variants — chosen because they all photograph well in real South African kitchens:

  • Burgundy — warm, classic, pairs with wood and copper accents
  • Aquamarine — fresh, modern, light kitchens
  • Rose Gold — feminine, statement, social-media ready

Pots that aren't hidden in a cupboard. Pots you put on display. Cook beautifully.

What Marble Coating Actually Is

"Marble" doesn't mean stone. It means a coating that contains micro-particles of marble/granite mineral bonded into a polymer matrix on top of cast aluminium. The mineral particles add abrasion resistance — meaning the coating lasts longer than thin Teflon under normal home use. PFOA-free. Safe up to 230°C.

What Tiger Is For

  • Egg, pancake, crepe, fish-skin specialists
  • Low-oil / weight-conscious cooking
  • Modern open-plan kitchens where cookware is part of the visual
  • Anyone tired of paying European brand prices for the same product

What Tiger Is Not For

  • Daily pap-stirring with a wooden spoon (the coating shortens with abrasion — use bare aluminium for pap)
  • Searing steak (non-stick prevents the Maillard fond)
  • Catering volumes (the coating won't last batch-volume use)
  • Above 230°C oven temperatures

FAQ

Is Tiger the same factory as Bon Voyage? Tiger and Bon Voyage are sister brands under Big5 Cookware. Same group, completely different design philosophies. Bon Voyage is honest pure aluminium; Tiger is designed marble-coated.

How long does the marble coating last? 3–5 years of normal home use with wooden / silicone utensils. Don't use metal utensils or scouring pads.

Why three colours instead of more? Each colour is chosen to actually look good in a real kitchen — not as marketing. Three is curated, not limiting.
